Extending Your Home
Below are the types of extensions that we carry out. For information on how we work please have a look at our Home Extensions page.
Single Story Extensions
Single Story Extensions are a great addition to add to the back of your home, these extensions are great to extend your kitchen andor your living room. These extensions do not normally require planning permission; in fact 95% of the homes we go out to survey do not require planning permission from your local council. If you are going to need planning permission we will tell you upon visit to your home.
You will need building regulation plans to be drawn up for a single story extension regardless of you needed planning permission or not. These types of extensions normally consist of a flat roof and a patio door that leads onto your garden. Some customers ask us just to produce the shell which we have no problem in doing.
The process of carrying out this work after the building regulations have been accepted normally takes four to five weeks, depending on the size of the extension.
Two Storey Extensions
A two storey extension normally or a double storey extension normally sits on the side of your house. If you are lucky enough to have the space on the side of your house you can often create a living room, a dining room (or extend the kitchen) and the addition of one or two more bed rooms. It all depends on how much space there is to build on. It is also common that houses with a garage on the side of them to build up from the garage.
This type of extension does require planning permission and building regulations, this process can take around 12 to 15 weeks. We can arrange for this paper work to be carried out and approved by the local council on your behalf. The process of building your extension takes between six to eight weeks, this all really depends on the size of the extension.
